Children with an autism spectrum disorder or ADHD can find it hard to play with peers in a bigger group. Are you looking for another family to organise for example a one-to-one playdate, a small Lego play group or a swimming date for your child? Connect here! Send an e-mail to [email protected]
Children are connected based on age, language and interests, not on diagnosis. Typically developing children who would like to be a peer for a child with a developmental disorder are welcome to respond as well. Let this be an enriching experience for both children!
Any child benefits from being involved in social activities with other children, but it can be harder for children who have an autism spectrum disorder or ADHD to find peers with similar interests, and challenges, to play with. Some families with a child on the spectrum or with ADHD feel a sense of isolation, in particular as an international family living in Japan. Opportunities to socialise for the child, and to share worries and experiences for parents, are lost. Let's find that play date for your child. You can send me a message and I will post it on this website. Announcements are anonymous but should mention your child's age, language(s) spoken, what the main challenge of your child is, what you are looking for (parent exchange, what type of activity for the child (park visit, Lego playdate, swimming, museum visit etc.), what area you can meet, any other relevant information. I do not personally know the families and each family has to find out for themselves if there is a "click" between their children/families. This is a free service and accessible for all, not just for TN clients.
Disclaimer: Tokyo Neuropsychologist is connecting interested families but cannot take responsibility for the meetings organised. Moreover, I cannot endorse people/families and each family is responsible to check the family that is interested and guarantee the child's safety during meetings/playdates. If there are any issues coming up that I need to be aware of please send me an email.
You can send me an e-mail and I am happy to post your announcement (anonymously) on this website and connect you to the responding family. The first contact beween interested families will be done by Bcc and has to go through me. You have to divulge personal information to me (your name, address and telephone number) before I will connect to the family that made the announcement, but I will keep this information confidential till the moment both families agree to connect directly. Any anonymous responses will be ignored.
